On September 26, 2006, the School of Business and the Small Business Development Center co-sponsored a workshop for business people in the Pittsburgh region, on the topic of the H1-B Visa. The H1-B Visa is a topic important to business people who wish to hire international students who are obtaining advanced degrees in the U.S.
These applicants possess global skills which can be of value to their business. Many companies would benefit by hiring such students because of their global skills and their American education. As can be learned from the streaming video (below) from the workshop, the process for obtaining an H1-B Visa for an international student is not as bureaucratic, nor as expensive as you may have imagined.
The workshop features a panel of speakers including:
-
Mr. Matthew Phillips, Immigration Attorney with the law firm of Cohen & Grigsby
-
-
Mr. Tom Trumble, Human Resource Manager from the Pittsburgh manufacturer, Kurt J. Lesker Company
-
Ms. Mei Tsen Chou, international student and graduate of Duquesne University, and web developer for Kurt J. Lesker Company
