Thomas D. Bartolec Scholarship Award

To honor, in perpetuity, Thomas D. Bartolec, a former student who passed away suddenly on December 9, 1985, Duquesne University's A.J. Palumbo School of Business Administration is delighted to announce the Thomas D. Bartolec Scholarship Award which will be awarded this year to a qualified sophomore or junior from the A.J. Palumbo School of Business Administration.

Business students with a QPA of 3.25 or higher are eligible to apply. Awards are made based on written applications submitted by students early in the spring semester.

The award will be effective for the fall semester of the next academic year. Factors considered in the selection process include academic achievement with a 3.25 or higher QPA; university and community service; financial need, merit, and a personal statement related to why you feel you are deserving of such an award. Financial need will not be a primary consideration in determining the award recipient.

A personal interview will be conducted by members of the Awards Selection Committee will be an important factor considered in the selection process. All candidates will be expected to appear for a personal interview before the Awards Selection Committee.

Applications are available in the Office of Student Activities of the Student Union and online (see below). Completed applications must be submitted to the Office of Student Activities, Student Union by 4:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2009. We strongly recommend that you submit your application as early as possible. Your early submission allows sufficient time to resolve any administrative problems or questions. The awards will be announced by the beginning of March.

Bartolec scholarship interviews (mandatory for consideration) will take place on Monday, February 16, 2009.
