Project Management

Why Project Management Education at Duquesne University?

Upon returning to work, attendees can immediately apply the tools and techniques that they learned by implementing project management best practices. Attendees also increase their potential for promotion by enhancing the necessary skills to navigate a project-oriented environment. But learning does not end when the class is over. All participants receive ongoing support from instructors as needed after the seminar is over.

The project management seminar programs reinforce the concepts that must be understood in order to prepare for or maintain Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification. Furthermore, attendees gain the Professional Development Units (PDUs) necessary to sit for the exam or remain certified.

Project Management Instructors

Since the first project management program was launched in 1999, CCEE's instructors have consistently impacted participants and their organizations. They speak from experience, utilizing real-life scenarios and case studies for seminar exercises to reinforce participants' understanding of the fundamental tools and techniques presented. Additionally, the seminars concentrate on "a practical approach" to each phase of project management as identified by the Project Management Body of Knowledge (known as the PMBOK® Guide), providing proven and widely applied practices within the field.

Sam Provil, PMP, the founder and President of Provil & Associates, Inc., has taught project management at Duquesne University since 1999. Mr. Provil has over 30 years of combined project management and planning experience in a number of industries including aerospace/defense, engineering/construction, manufacturing, information systems/technologies, transportation and utilities.

As the lead facilitator and instructional consultant on CCEE's project management programs, Mr. Provil works with a team of six other instructors to provide the highest quality project management education.  The instructor team consists of individuals who have served as Executive Directors of PMI® chapters, helped to author or revise the PMBOK® Guide, and possess up to 40 years of industry experience.

Partnerships with Project Management Organizations

CCEE partners with organizations that focus on project management, such as the Project Management Institute and the Pittsburgh Technology Council.
