Innovative Research

Dr. Kenneth SabanDr. Stephen RauKen Saban is the primary investigator and Stephen Rau is associate researcher on a research grant of $148,000 awarded by the Department of Justice.  The objective of the grant 'to assess the cyber security preparedness of enterprises and their supply chains in various industries by comparing cyber practices with exposure to cyber threats.'

Dr. David PenticoDave Pentico's paper "The Assortment Problem: A Survey" was accepted by the European Journal of Operational Research.

Dr. Ryan GarveyRyan Garvey's paper titled "Order Selection and Prior Outcomes" has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Trading.  The paper will appear in the journal this fall.

and Bill Presutti had an article accepted for publication in Supply Chain Management Review. It is entitled "A Model for Linking Supply Chain Measures to Corporate Financial Performance," and will be published in SCMR's September issue.

Dr. William SpanglerBill Spangler's paper titled "Conflict Identification and Reconciliation in a Collaborative Manufacturing Scheduling Task," co-authored with colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh and Bayer Corporation, was accepted for publication in the International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making.

Professor Steve GreenbergMaryellen Kelly and Steve Greenberg successfully presented their work on Social Capital and Baseball Alumni Associations at the 19th Cooperstown Symposium on Baseball and American Culture on June 7th, 8th and 9th. (Photo not available for Dr. Maryellen Kelly.)

Dr. Matthew DrakeMatt Drake and Dave Pentico's paper titled "On the EOQ with Partial Backordering and Time-Dependent BackorderPercentage" was accepted for presentation and will appear in the Proceedings of the Decision Sciences Institute national conference in November 2007.

Dr. Ronald DickIn June 2007, Ron Dick presented two papers (with colleagues)—"Developing a Metadiscrete Sports-Sales Training Program: Utilizing research-based program evaluation" and "Marketing Techniques and Research in the NBA:Current trends and Issues"—at the North American Society of Sport Management Conference in Miami, Florida. Ron and his colleagues also are presenting two more papers at the upcoming Sport Marketing Association Conference here in Pittsburgh in November.  Those papers are titled "The Impact of Student Ticketing Systems on Sales and Attendance in Intercollegiate Athletics" and "Taking it to the Next Level: A Rationale for Expanding Sport-Sales Training Experiential Elements."
